Late spring, before the oppressive heat sets in, is the perfect time to enjoy it, while in summer it will provide refreshment in the evening

Chardonnay accounts for half of the base wine in the Vuglec Extra Brut sparkling wine, while the other half consists of Belina, Kraljevina, Šipon, Graševina, Zeleni Silvanac and a few other varieties from mixed vineyards around Škarićevo near Krapina. There is the location of Vuglec Breg winery, restaurant and guesthouse. Although the vintage year is not stated on the label, the wine underwent its secondary fermentation in the bottle starting in July 2022, meaning the base wine is from the 2021 vintage. Boris Vuglec explains that they disgorge the wine preparing it for consumption as needed, releasing it to wine lovers two to three months later.

It has a vibrant golden hue and  very fine effervescence. Initially, the nose offers notes of brioche and bread crust, which then give way to a lovely, delicate aroma of ripe peach. The palate is rich, ripe, and delicious, yet free of any cloying sweetness. It has a long finish that brings a smile to one's face. Late spring, before the oppressive heat sets in, is the perfect time to enjoy it, though it also makes for a refreshing summer evening treat, especially paired with white saltwater fish carpaccio or raw shellfish. A bottle costs 15 euros at the winery.
