The Petrač winery's Chardonnay Sur lie 2022 has a full and long, delicately almond-like flavor. It has an attractive greenish yellow color with golden reflections, and the ripe fruity aromas of peach, pear, and quince are refreshed by green apple. Part of the wine is aged on fine lees in barrels, and part in stainless steel vessels, so vanilla and caramel can be gently felt.
Chardonnays of this Burgundy style pair well with rich, buttery poultry dishes and sweeter shellfish, and we enjoyed it with chicken in a white sauce with gnocchi.
