Master Sommelier Suwi Zlatić selected and presented eight quite distinct, mature sparkling wines, all produced using the traditional method of secondary fermentation in the bottle, for a comparative tasting. This broad spectrum demonstrates, Zlatić noted, that simply listing two sparkling wines is insufficient for hospitality venues. There should be at least five to cater to every occasion where sparkling wine is enjoyed. There are many such occasions, and Plešivica offers several top-quality sparkling wines for each of them, he added.
Saša Špiranec presented eight wines from Plešivica for tasting, describing them as iconic. Words such are Classy, Kamenice (the name of a vineyard, meaning stony soil), Grande, Qvevri, Haiku, Dvije zime (Two Winters), and Marl are fantasy-style elements in the names of some of them.
The weather will be pleasant and dry
As there will be current vintages, they will likely be available for tasting this coming weekend, from September 25 to 27, in the park of the Erdödy Castle in Jastrebarsko. The forecast calls for mostly clear skies and temperatures around 20 degrees.
