Wonderful experiences often happen by chance. While wandering through beautiful Herzegovina, we spotted a sign for a winery and turned off toward Cerno, not far from Ljubuški. We entered the courtyard and looked around to see if anyone was there. Just as we were about to leave, a man appeared. He took us into the winery, offered us wine, prosciutto, cheese, oil, bread, and even rakija. He showed us the vineyard and the beautiful estate surrounding it, then brought us back to the winery and offered us wine, prosciutto, cheese, oil, bread all over again... And even rakija. Vrag odnija prišu means let the devil take the haste and it is written at the entrance to the winery

My visits to Jure Sušac are no longer a matter of chance. He is an essential stop on any journey through Herzegovina, so in late August, we once again enjoyed the company, the wines, the food, and the wonderful atmosphere, both under the roof and out under the open sky. Even the scorching sun didn't bother us (too much). Here is a photo story about Žilavka, Trnjak, Blatina, the vineyard, the orchard, good company, merriment, and words of wisdom such as the thought that good, hardworking people leave a trail behind them, much like the stars...
