Alongside the local star Dalmatian prosciutto, as well as varieties from Drniš and Istria, visitors to Vrgorac on June 5 and 6 could also sample globally acclaimed delicacies such as Italian Prosciutto di Parma and Slovenian Karst prosciutto. A festival like the Vrgorac Dalmatian Prosciutto and Wine Days combines the region's leading role in producing this protected delicacy with one of Croatia's largest and most impressive wine-growing areas.
Zlatarica, trnak, plavka...
Vrgorac wines are reaching new levels of quality year after year. It is particularly gratifying that guests showed exceptional interest in the region's indigenous and preserved heritage grape varieties, such as Zlatarica Vrgorska, Trnak, and Plavka.
Darko Markotić, President of the Croatian Prosciutto Cluster, confirmed that Vrgorac has become a true capital of prosciutto.
Who slices best?
While expressing great pride that this event has become the central celebration for the protected Dalmatian prosciutto, he emphasized that the festival's main goal is to broaden consumers' horizons by introducing them to European standards and premium flavors. Visitors enjoyed engaging presentations and traditional precision-slicing competitions.
