Different parts of Croatia will see four, five, or even six sunny days this week, with pleasant temperatures ranging from 17 to 24 degrees. Naturally, this means that one, two, or three days will not be quite like that. Rain will fall across the country, and temperatures will drop, particularly morning lows. On that coldest mornings, the warmest spots will be Dalmatia, with temperatures around 10 degrees. Hilly Croatia will see seven degrees, Istria six, and Slavonia just five. Such varied weather calls for a versatile wine, one that refreshes yet offers a gentle warmth. And that kind of a wine is...

Krauthaker Graševina Mitrovac ranks among Croatia’s most reliable wines. Every vintage offers a consistently fine blend of fullness, lusciousness, and freshness. It features classic aromas of sweet, ripe apples, along with vineyard peaches and wildflowers. The palate is lively, characterized by fine, delicate acidity and the pleasant bitterness typical of this variety, which accounts for a quarter of all vineyard acreage in Croatia. On the pleasant days ahead, it will pair beautifully with local cold cuts as an appetizer, pasta dishes with light, pale sauces, and even seafood risotto. When the weather turns cooler and rainy, however, it will perfectly complement fish stew and veal dishes, whether breaded or roasted.
